Quality Built for Better Living
Making your home safe for furry (and feathered) friends
Are you living with a dog on a high-traffic street? Do you have a puppy that gets into everything? Do you have an older animal that won’t climb the stairs? When you’re planning on a new home it’s important to consider the needs of your four-legged family members as well as the two-legged ones.
April is National Lawn & Garden Month!
Gardening has a long list of benefits – from healthier eating and nutrition to making the world around us a more livable place. To highlight those benefits the National Garden Association has compiled a list of gardening activities to do each day throughout the month.
Spring cleaning: a little every day goes a long way
First and foremost, don’t feel overwhelmed even though there might be a lot of things that need to be done. Knowing where to begin is important – and that’s where a 30-day plan comes in. Creating a plan that involves a couple of cleaning tasks per day is a perfect way to get a lot done, without spending hours and hours at a time. It also gives you a sense of accomplishment along the way. Check out this pre-planned 30-day list and try it for yourself!
The Spring Home Show is over – but we’re not done
At the Spring Home Show, we featured a home we built with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Peoria. The home includes a front porch and an attached garage, perfect for a family. Now that the show is over we will deliver the house to 1015 NE Madison, Peoria, IL. Now here’s where you come in – we need help finishing the home once it’s installed, like putting up siding and other details. If you would like to donate your time and help us help a hard-working family get their new home up and running, give Habitat for Humanity a call at (309) 676-6729.
Love and your heart: A match made in heaven
According to new research, falling in love can help a variety of physical conditions like high blood pressure and can actually increase brain activity. Researchers at the university concluded that falling in love is the “result of activity in 12 areas of the brain working together.” They have found that just by looking at a loved one can actually trigger the release of dopamine, which is one of the body’s natural pain killers. A 2006 study also shows that there are benefits to kissing – 30 minutes of kissing reduces the production of histamine which triggers allergy symptoms.
