Turkey If you are serving turkey for Thanksgiving and it’s frozen, you will need a day per every four pounds to thaw. In other words, if you have an 18-pound turkey it will take four and a half days to thaw. And if you plan to brine your bird, you will need one extra day.

The only thing worse than lumpy mashed potatoes, is cold, gluey ones. Use your slow cooker to keep your spuds warm, first butter your slow cooker insert, add a little heavy cream and spoon in the potatoes. Set the temp to low and stir every hour to keep your potatoes smooth and silky.
