Now that the cold weather is behind us, there are lots of things you can do to open up your home and get it ready for spring and summer. Here are a list of things you need to do to make sure your home is ready to go!
Make sure your safety devices are working properly
Take a look at your carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors to make sure they are functioning. It’s also best to add new batteries every year just to be safe. Check for recalls of your home safety products as well at recalls.gov.
Get that air conditioner checked out
There’s nothing worse than having the summer heat hit and your air conditioner isn’t working properly. It’s a good idea to schedule a tune up when springtime rolls around so you won’t be caught off guard in the summer. At the very least, replace the air filter.
Stop mosquitoes before they get started
Springtime is when mosquitoes start to get active again and there’s nothing they love more than standing water. It’s the ideal breeding ground for them. So go around and empty any open containers like flowerpots, saucers, and wheelbarrows that might be filled with rainwater.
Clean that garage
Over the winter, your garage can accumulate more than its fair share of junk. Take the time to go through your garage and get rid of unused or old paint, oil, or other hazardous liquids. Be sure to follow local recycling and safety standards when doing so.
