Sure, the winter weather is still here but spring is right around the corner. Here are three home maintenance tips that will help you get rid of the winter grime and get ready for warmer weather.
1. Change and/or clean your filters
Undoubtedly, your furnace has been cranking over the winter, which means your air filter has probably been doing double duty. And the same might be true for your range’s exhaust filter. Now is the perfect time to change your air filter and clean your exhaust filter (which can be cleaned in hot, soapy water).
2. Degrease your kitchen
Even with an exhaust fan, a tremendous amount of grease can cover your kitchen surfaces, especially counter tops and appliances. Add to that the dust in the air which gets captured on these surfaces and you’ve got a layer of grime that requires some elbows grease to cut through. Try using a citrus-based cleaner and a hot, wet sponge (while wearing rubber gloves) to wipe the winter grime away.
3. Give your mattress a flip
To prevent sagging, it’s always good to flip (or rotate) your mattress a couple of times a year. And while you’re at it, it’s a good idea to vacuum your mattress (and box spring) as well.
