Everyone has their favorite tools to use in the kitchen but here are four recommendations for must-have tools that you really need (even though you might not know it).
- Microplane: Everyone has a standard grater but a microplane can do so much more. From finely grating garlic and ginger, to zesting citrus to grinding down nutmeg, it’s a flexible tool every kitchen should have.
- Kitchen Shears: Now, we’re not talking about a pair of scissors you keep in your kitchen. Kitchen shears are something completely different. They’re extremely sharp and powerful – great for cutting up vegetables like celery and carrots as well as breaking up chicken bones, and not to mention opening up hard plastic packaging.
- Offset Spatula: A small offset spatula is another universal tool that every kitchen must have – it’s great for flipping meat in a pan, as well as freeing pies and cakes from their bases or removing a casserole from a baking dish.
- Masking Tape: Masking tape in a kitchen? Absolutely! It has lots of different uses – putting dates on foods in the fridge, labeling items in your pantry, sealing opened boxes of pasta and grains, or as a way of keeping chips and snacks fresh.
