Fall is a good time to divide your perennials. The general rule of thumb is to divide them at least six weeks before the ground freezes so they get rooted before the freezing weather arrives. After the first freeze add a thick layer of mulch to keep the ground consistently cold or frozen until spring to help prevent freeze/thaw cycles in the soil that may cause the ground to heave and uproot your plants. You’ll be so glad you did next Spring!
